Fr Joseph Farrugia is a priest for the Diocese of Gozo. He leads the Diocesan Family Counselling Centre at Ta’ Pinu and is the Rector of The Papa Ġwanni Pawlu II family institute. Fr Farrugia is the Founding Director of our Institute and till November 2021 he sat on the IPM Board of Directors.
Marvik Galea is the Head of School of the Bishop’s Conservatory Secondary School, Victoria. He was involved in the setting up of the Institute and currently sits on the IPM Board of Directors.
Frances Galea is a secondary school teacher who was involved in the process of establishing the Institute. For the last years she occupied the role of the first administrative secretary of the same educational institution.
Dr Joseph Azzopardi is a Senior Lecturer within the Department of Management, Faculty of Economics, Management and Accountancy at the University of Malta. He was appointed by Bishop Emeritus of Gozo Mario Grech as the Bishop’s Delegate and Chairman of the IPM Board of Governors.
Anthony Bezzina is a former chief officer at a local bank. Currently he is the Administrative Secretary of the Gozo Curia and the Treasurer of our Institute.
Jacqueline Cefai is an ICT teacher at the Gozo Primary Church Schools. At IPM she oversees the functions related to technology, website management and social media content.
Fr Noel Debono is a priest for the Diocese of Gozo. He is currently a parish collaborator within the parish of Munxar, the Director of Studies at the Sacred Heart Major Seminary and the Vocations Promoter for the Diocese. As of September 2021, he has been appointed Director for the Institute.

Christine Scerri is an experienced educator who has worked in State, Independent and Church schools. She served as Head of School of the Bishop’s Conservatory Secondary between 2013 and 2021 and is currently employed by the Secretariat for Catholic Education as a Service Manager for the Gozo Church Schools. Christine has a background in Counselling and School Leadership and is actively involved in pastoral work with couples preparing for the Sacrament of Marriage.
Fr Daniel Sultana is a priest for the Diocese of Gozo. He is the Pastoral Secretary for the Diocese of Gozo, Parish Vicar of the Gozo Cathedral Parish and sits on the IPM Board of Directors.
Safeguarding of Minors lecturer
Joseph Farrugia was ordained priest for the Diocese of Gozo in the year 2000. He specialized in Moral Theology at Academia Alfonsiana (Rome) and in Clinical Psychology at the Institute of Psychology of the Gregorian University (Rome). Fr. Joseph received further training in Safeguarding of Minors at the Centre of Child Protection of the Gregorian University (Rome). He is a warranted Clinical Psychologist and leads the Diocesan Family Counselling Centre at Ta’ Pinu. Apart from being engaged in psychotherapy, Fr Joseph lectures at the Sacred Heart Major Seminary and at the University of Malta. He offers spiritual companionship and supervision to priests and religious. His main research interests are professional ethics, human and spiritual formation, protection of minors and interdisciplinary psychology.
Inclusion and Integration of Vulnerable People in the Community coordinator
Giovanni Curmi was ordained priest for the Diocese of Gozo in 1991. He served in Rome from 1991 to early 1996, where he studied pastoral theology at the Lateran Pontifical University. He received his Masters in Youth Ministry from the University of Malta in 2015. He has lectured at the Major Seminary in Gozo, focusing on the Theology of the People, characteristic of the Pontificate of Pope Francis.
Litugical Formation lecturer
Ignatius Borg was ordained priest for the Diocese of Gozo in 1985. He studied theology specializing in Sacred Liturgy and Pastoral Theology in Rome. He obtained an M.A. in Pastoral Theology from Pontifical University of Saint Thomas Aquinas, diploma in Christian Archeology from Pontificio Istituto di Arceologia Cristiana, diploma in Mariology from Pontificia Facolta’ Teologica Marianum, degree in Sacred Liturgy from Pontificio Ateneo Sant’Anselmo and Ecclesiology from Pontifical Lateran University. He is the Delegate of Liturgy for the Diocese of Gozo, a Lecturer in Sacred Liturgy at the Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Gozo and a member of the Interdiocesan Commission for Sacred Liturgy.
